He is saving the best for last!

I am one of those who will eat one thing at a time on my plate and it drives my husband absolutely nuts! It is a strategy I have. I tend to eat the least liked food first, saving my favorite for the very end, so that after I am finished with my meal, I am still savoring my favorite dish.

Remember the wedding feast of Cana? It was in John chapter 2 that we read of Jesus's first recorded miracle, turning water into wine. It was a great dishonor to run out of wine at a wedding and yet they ran out. Jesus mother urged him to respond and even though he told her it was not yet his time (for miracles), she told the servants to do whatever Jesus says. Jesus tells the servants to fill the stone jars with water, and the result? The master of the banquet responds, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.” The best was saved for last!

Are you left wondering if life has passed you by? Have you made mistakes and thought "It's too late for God to do anything with my life now." Are you left feeling like there is nothing to celebrate or look forward to? I hear it is common for people in mid-life to feel disappointed at where they are in life or by all that they have not accomplished. For myself, being in my mid-life years, I can look over my life and see the many paths taken and choices made that would have made my life so much easier today if I knew then what I know now. That is why it is so important to listen to the Holy Spirit and not make any choice or walk down any path out of disappointment, fear, or out of anything that does not come from the voice of God.

You saw who you created me to be before I became me! Before I’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days you planned for me were already recorded in your book. - Psalm 139:16 TPT The Lord knows that path He has drawn for us. Though we don't always chose His way, I certainly did not at a particular time in my life (two that I can think of) we would be wise to. Isaiah 55:8 and 9 says For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts higher than your thoughts. He always has something better for us than what we have for ourselves. We just have to trust. That is not always easy, especially if we have been neglected or hurt by others, but we can't judge God by the actions of others. Proverbs 14:12 TPT You can rationalize it all you want and justify the path of error you have chosen, but you’ll find out in the end that you took the road to destruction.

That scripture sounds harsh but it is all too easy to make excuses or to blame others who have hurt or disappointed us when we find ourselves not where had wanted to be in life. God is looking to pour out His Spirit on all flesh. He is looking for a people who will be champions. The harvest is ripe but the laborers are few. He is looking to use you! So if you have happened to ignore the counsel of God, have gone down the wrong path, if you have made unwise choices, gone ahead of God, not being patient seeking Him and trusting Him, etc... if your life is all that you once desired for it to be, is it too late? Looking straight into their eyes, Jesus replied, “Humanly speaking, no one, because no one can save himself. But what seems impossible to you is never impossible to God!” - Matthew 19:26 TPT. Philippians 1:6 TBT says, I pray with great faith for you, because I’m fully convinced that the One who began this glorious work in you will faithfully continue the process of maturing you and will put his finishing touches to it until the unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ!

God will complete the work He began. It is not over. He still has need of you. As long as there is breathe in your lungs it is never too late! If you have been discouraged or disappointed because of past failures, don't be. Instead, celebrate the fact that you now have that knowledge and because of that knowledge you can move forward with what you have learned. Everyone has made mistakes or unwise choices at one time or another. We are all in-process. I admit that I haven’t yet acquired the absolute fullness that I’m pursuing, but I run with passion into his abundance so that I may reach the purpose that Jesus Christ has called me to fulfill and wants me to discover. I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. Philippians 3:12-13 TBT

The key, is in John 2:5, Do whatever he tells you. He wants to pour out on you new wine but it may be that you need a new wineskin.. And who would pour fresh, new wine into an old wineskin? Eventually the wine will ferment and make the wineskin burst, losing everything—the wine will be spilled and the wineskin ruined. Instead, new wine is always poured into new wineskins.” Mark 2:22 You may feel crushed but he will use that crushing to make new wine!

Remember, that no matter what you have walked through, seek Him first (Matthew 6:33) and the best is yet to come. Your not finished yet! He is saving the best wine for last!
